Membership Information

FWRC equipment consists of recreational single sculls, race trainer sculls, elite single sculls, recreational double sculls, elite double sculls and quadruple sculls. Several members have their own boats and row on water near their homes, while other members store their boats at the Beach Street boathouse.

The FWRC has about 75 or so members. The Club is governed by a five member executive committee that includes Committee Chairman for Membership, Activities, Boathouse, Treasurer, and President. For 2007 the Membership Committee Chairman is Lee Smith, (817) 274-4676; the Boathouse Manager is Erich Cosio, (817) 294-3966 and the President is Jill Gurtatowski.  David Perez who is our co-Treasurer can be reached at (817) 793-0509.  These officers are elected each year at the Annual Meeting.

Experienced rowers wishing to join or row with the Club should contact the Membership Chairman or the Boathouse Manager.

Membership Definitions:

  • Basic Membership:  Eligible to use the boathouse for erging workouts, can row at $10/row, is on the communication list.  There is no delayed membership start for the second year(*).
  • Club Boat Membership:  Can use the boathouse, and can row any Club equipment for which they qualify as often as they want on our water.  There is no delayed membership start for the second year(*).
  • Student Membership:  A full time student can initiate membership for any of the three semesters.  Enjoys Club Boat privileges when the membership is in force, and continuity of membership is not required.  This is a non-voting membership.
  • Junior Club Boat Membership:  For those under 24 years old at the time of joining.  Same privileges as a Club Boat Member.
  • An additional family member lives in the same household under the same roof.

 

  (*)  Membership begins in April and is reduced through the year.  If you are a member during a particular year, your membership for the following year starts in April.  A delayed membership is available for new members or following a full inactive year.

A vote at the Annual Meeting in January must be cast by someone whose Membership has been in force for six months or longer.

Fees for boat storage are based on boat seats.  Storage of more than one boat requires only one membership; Membership + delta store + delta store.  Boat storage is intended for rowing/sculling boats.  Any other storage has lower priority than rowing/sculling boats and may not be renewed. 

Delayed membership dues and storage fees are calculated assuming no reduction for, April, May and June; 90% of April costs for July; 80% of April costs for August; etc., to March which will have 10% of April costs.
