Fort Worth Rowing Club
Learn to Row
Trained, experienced members of the Fort Worth Rowing Club will conduct beginner classes for potential Club members three to five times a year from our Beach Street boathouse. Email the Lesson Coordinator to start the enrollment process. The fee for the six session class is $175, and by paying the fee, the student is committing to attend all six sessions with no planned absences.
Experienced rowers wishing to join or row with the Club should contact the Membership Chairman or the Boathouse Manager.
NOTICE: ALL 2011 LESSONS ARE FULL, LESSONS WILL RESUME IN APRIL 2012
We can accommodate 8 students per series.
Register early as classes are filled on a first come first served basis.
After reviewing the available dates for lessons, please complete the attached form completely and note which lesson series you are interested in. You will also need to send a check for $25 to hold your space. This $25 is non-refundable. It will apply to your lesson fee of $175 (the remaining $150 is due before your lesson series starts). Please make the check payable to FWRC.
Our beginning rower classes are strenuous, requiring flexibility and agility on the part of the student. As a minimum, we expect the student to:
· Be a good swimmer
· Weigh less than 220 pounds
· Be able to do moderate exercise for an hour
· Be able to sit on the floor unaided by furniture from a standing position, and then stand back up, thus simulating getting into/out of a boat.
Missed sessions can be made up with special arrangements with the coaches, but refunds after the first session can not be made. For the duration of the rowing period associated with each class the student enjoys full membership in the Club for 3 months. After the three months the student must make a decision concerning Club membership.
The Fort Worth Rowing Club does not have a juniors program. Rowers younger than eighteen can participate in Club activities as children of members and must always be under direct supervision of a parent or guardian.
To get to the Beach Street boathouse go a quarter mile north on Beach Street from I-30. Parking is available on the right immediately after the bridge. Alternately, coming from Texas 121, exit Beach Street and go south, left, two miles.
